If part of your HR job is to report employee turnover, this template will help make your job easier! This is an excel spreadsheet template that comes set up with all the formulas needed to calculate your company's turnover rates, including several pages where you can import (copy and paste) your employee data on new hires, terms, etc, in order to get an accurate headcount and turnover rate per department or functional area.
Specifications ~
The file consists of 2 summary reports and a page with 2 charts to summarize voluntary vs. involuntary turnover rates per region. The first page/tab has a place to list up to 20 regions or departments. The next summary page is more detailed, and contains a place to list the 20 main regions/departments, along with 20 smaller areas (cost centers or department numbers) within those regions. The template will work for up to 18,000 employees.
How it works ~

*Simply copy and paste these reports into the specified pages of the template:
Previous Employee List – For an annual turnover, you would paste the employee’s information as of 1/1. For monthly turnover, paste the employee’s information as of the 1st of the month
1.) Current Employee List – Either use the list as of the last day of the month or the last day of the year,
depending on which time frame you're looking to track.
2.) Transfer report
3.) New Hires report
4.) Terminations report – Ideally if you can separate the terminations into 2 files – one for voluntary and another for involuntary, that way the different turnover rates can be considered.
*Add the regions/functional areas and/or cost centers/department numbers (what ever is important for your organization to track) – into the summary page.
*The total headcounts will automatically link and calculate your involuntary, voluntary and total turnover rates per area that you choose.
*A page with the overall 20 regions/functional areas will also feed into 2 charts that are ready for printing and presenting at your next meeting.
*Also includes a summary page that will list out headcounts per region/cost center, etc, as a way to double check all departments have been accounted for.
UPGRADE OPTION - Tenure and Term Reason Tracking
You will be able to quickly review your turnover and headcounts, based on your employees' length of service or tenure with the company.
Customize the range of tenure per employee simply by adding the actual range, employee date of hire, and termination date in the provided portion and the rest of the summaries and charts will update.
Also included in the upgrade is a chart showing total termination per certain term reason.
